Hosted by Mr. Trevor Pretty, a renowned choreographer, the Funk and Fabric Fashion Show took off on a low note, but later made up for it with the funky designers and the dynamic supermodels-in-training who put their all into making sure that the audience was entertained.
Despite the show’s very late start, it was a hit amongst the large crowd which it drew. However, this was no ordinary fashion show as it was also a fund-raiser for the eight gorgeous female models to be sent to Canada to further pursue a career in modeling.
One the lovely models, Julianna Durant, has already been signed with one of the visiting Canadian agencies, NAM Model Management.
Special appearances and assistance from supermodel Kimberlyn Parris and supermodel and host of Canada’s Next Top Model, Stacey Mckenzie also contributed to making the event one of the year’s most unforgettable. Featured designers included Blue Moon, high-end boutique The Edge, Jackie Brathwaite, Ashakai, Anya Stephens and the night was topped off by the highly anticipated ‘Absence of Innocence’ fashion line by Kesia Estwick. This was the crowd favorite, as it caters to all those hip and modern women who are not afraid to stand out. Estwick describes the line as ‘glam-punk’, a term that definitely embodies the essence that is ‘Absence of Innocence’. Here are a few photos from the recent shoot for the fashion line, also directed by yours truly.
The true model test was given to the models. They were given the task of transforming an ordinary plastic bag into an outfit that reflected their personality.
