MISS BARBADOS WORLD 2012: UPDATE: Sightseeing, Charity Dinner & Beach Fashion Shoot

Miss Barbados World 2012, Marielle Wilkie has definitely been a busy bee with all of the Miss World events with touring, a charity dinner & the highly anticipated beach fashion shoot. During a sightseeing tour with all the Miss World contestants to Changshu to see the Zeng & Zhao Gardens and the beautiful Shanghu Lake, Miss Barbados was chosen along with Miss Colombia to be the commentators. Giving them a great opportunity to show off their communication skills.

The ladies then travelled about 4 hours by coach to Shanghai airport – then another several hours by plane and bus to the hotel in Baotou in Inner Mongolia. They then had to be up at 3am on Tuesday to prepare for a day of swimwear photo shoots and filming in the desert where they were mobbed by hoards of Chinese paparazzi. Miss Barbados says, “Our security had a hard time keeping them at bay and the Miss World film crew and photographers became very frustrated trying to do photo shoots with all the paparazzi in the background of the shots.”

MISS BARBADOS WORLD 2012: Another Busy Schedule: Shop, Mingle & Rehearsals

MISS BARBADOS WORLD 2012: The Journey Continues: Rehearsals

Looking stunning in wardrobe sponsored by Barbadian boutique Dingolay, Marielle is poised for yet another busy day of rehearsals.

Keeping up with the blonde haired beauty, “Today’s been a long and eventful one – and exciting too!!!! Started out early this morning on a bus ride to the stadium where we spent the day rehearsing for the Miss World Opening Ceremony which takes place on Tuesday 24th July. The stage set is awesome!!!! I’ve never seen anything quite like it!!! And the stadium here in Ordos is MASSIVE. It accommodates 50,000 spectators!!”, she said.

Now, this year there were about eight girls who did belly dancing. So, Miss World has decided to add a new section where they had to choreograph their own belly dance routine and perform it. They danced again so Miss World can decide who will get to perform on “the big night” and Marielle has made it as a finalist! She’ll be belly dancing for the world on coronation night along with five other contestants. Being that this is literally the biggest Miss World in history, taking on more countries than ever before, the fact that Marielle is already a favorite speaks volumes.

Another day has begun for Miss Barbados World 2012, Marielle Wilkie. Another busy day of rehearsals, then she’s got a casting call for Cashmena (a Chinese brand), lunch, more rehearsals, dinner, then fittings for their traditional Mongolian costumes!

Our very own Miss Barbados World 2012, Marielle Wilkie, has already arrived in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, People’s Republic of China and has already done her official Miss World interview video. MISS BARBADOS WORLD 2012 – Marielle Wilkie

The Miss Barbados World Organisation has announced that Marielle Wilkie, former Miss Barbados World 2011 contestant will represent Barbados in Miss World 2012 beauty contest which is the 62nd edition of Miss World beauty contest, and it will be held in Ordos, Inner Mongolia on 18th August, 2012.

The Miss Barbados World official website states -

“Marielle’s genuine love for children inspired her devotion to the development of her Beauty With A Purpose Charity – The Tomorrow Project - for which she won the Beauty With A Purpose award at the 2011 Miss Barbados World show.

 

The campaign was developed to Educate, Empower and Enable – thus helping to “Create a Better Tomorrow” for disadvantaged and severely brain injured children in Barbados.

 

She believes that “one person at a time helping the world makes a difference, but it is working together that makes the shift from difference to change.”

Marielle Wilkie, a well known print and runway model in the island of Barbados is one of the promising contestants of this year’s Miss Barbados World pageant (2011). Marielle has written up a small bio, just to give the public a little taste of her personality.

” For those of you that don’t know me, here is a little bit about me.
I love surfing, one of my passions is being in the water. I also love sewing and making outfits to wear, I went to canada to do arts and came back with glass blowing under my belt. Its an amazing art and really cool to watch as well! Another one of my great qualities is I’m a people’s person, I love socializing and meeting new people! I absolutely adore children, I believe that they are the new generation of the world and they need all the guidance they can get!
